Svensk form
Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) is run by Svensk Form. Together with Swedish Design Awards’ Design S, the ongoing role of the award is to promote and encourage the creative output and development of Sweden’s emerging talent. Svensk Form is a nonprofit organisation with a task from the government to promote Swedish design nationally and internationally. Founded in 1845, it has regional hubs throughout the country and publishes the design and architecture magazine Form. The organisation also holds a vast archive of information, images and papers on Swedish design stretching back to its very roots, which can be found at designarkiv.se plus its own ‘opinion board’ which helps to resolve copyright and IP protection for its members, designers and companies.
Svensk Form is today focusing heavily on strengthening the reputation of contemporary and historical Swedish design on an international level and will, later this year, release swedishdesign.org, a new platform to promote the country’s rich, vibrant design scene in a more progressive digital format. Svensk Form is also responsible for bringing PechaKucha nights to Sweden and organises PechaKucha Nights across the country in many towns and cities. Working to the motto, Better Living Through Good Design, Svensk Form’s work towards creating and nurturing a sustainable design framework and a better quality of life is more relevant now than it has ever been.
